Fair Trade: The reasoning behind our principles
In our blog we would like to introduce the basic principles of fair trade step by step — values that guide us in our work and that form the core of what we do.
Today we start with the first and perhaps most important principle: creating opportunities for economically disadvantaged producers.

In a world in which many people have to leave their homeland to look for work and a better life elsewhere, we as jewellery producers want to create perspectives and support people so that they can live and work where their roots are — in their own homeland, in their own culture.
Our production takes place in Togo, a country with a rich cultural heritage and a strong artisanal tradition. By working with local artisans, we want to promote the cultural and economic strength of the region. Our partnerships are on an equal footing and are designed for the long term — so we not only create high-quality, handcrafted pieces of jewellery, but also perspectives that last.

Our collaboration allows our crocheters to earn a living without having to leave their families and communities — a value that is invaluable to us. Through our Women's Project, we are helping to ensure that migration due to economic necessity is not necessary anymore.
It is ironic that many political voices that speak against migration rarely promote fair trade as a solution, because it actually offers the most long-term and effective way to reduce the desire to emigrate. If people are paid fairly and treated with respect, the desire for a life abroad usually disappears. This is how fair trade works at the root — by giving people the chance to lead a good, safe life in their homeland.

When we choose fair trade, it is a decision for humanity, for respect and for the future. There is a story behind each of our jewellery pieces — the story of people who can stay in their homeland because they have a perspective. We are proud to follow this path and we hope that our jewellery is not only beautiful, but also carries this important message.
